Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Type 4 chemical indicator?
A Type 4 chemical indicator is a multi-variable indicator designed to react to two or more of the critical variables of the sterilization process, such as time and temperature, ensuring more reliable monitoring than Type 1 indicators.
What sterilization conditions are these strips suitable for?
These strips are designed for standard steam sterilization, including 121°C gravity steam and 132°C to 134°C pre-vacuum steam cycles. Specific models are optimized for different time/temperature combinations.
Are these indicator strips safe for medical environments?
Yes, these strips feature a lead-free formulation and comply with ISO 11140-1 standards, making them safe for use in dental clinics, hospitals, and other medical facilities.
How do I interpret the results?
The indicator features a chemical block that changes color consistently when exposed to the required sterilization parameters. A complete and uniform color change indicates that the parameters have been met.
Where should the strip be placed during sterilization?
The indicator strip should be placed inside each individual pack, tray, or container to be sterilized, specifically in the area most difficult for steam to reach.
What is the shelf life and storage requirement?
The strips should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and chemical vapors to maintain their integrity and accuracy before use.
